TEEN WEEK PROGRAM
Kenny Harlow’s Teen Week Program is a fun-filled week for both students and horses. This program is for teens aged 14 through 17 and is designed to better educate young people and their horses and will emphasize that training can be fun. It will provide students with a great confidence building and bonding experience with both their horse and new friends/fellow students. They will come away from camp closer to their horse with experiences to tell their grandkids about! Teen Week takes the students beyond ordinary hands on interactive training programs and will introduce them to Kenny’s special methods of communicating with horses. Kenny’s training methods and his gentle approach have literally changed the way horses are trained. These techniques work with every age and breed of horse (no stallions) and can be applied to any riding discipline. Teens will need to bring a horse that they are totally comfortable handling and riding. Students and horses will be learning skills reinforced with games and trail rides. The training program will take place at Kenny’s Cedar Run Ranch in Cumberland, Virginia.
A typical day will start with students taking care of their horses followed by breakfast at the main ranch house. Starting a 9:00 each morning, Kenny will work with the students for about 3 hours on individual issues and general training offered through hands-on instruction. They will then break for lunch, also served at the ranch house. The afternoon will be filled with games on horseback, either in the indoor arena or out on the trail. Games can include scavenger hunts, barrel races, pole bending, swimming with their horses, etc. Afterwards, we will have group activities such as swimming, bowling, tubing, movies, etc. (all without horses!). Dinner is either at the ranch or at local restaurants.
